Here is an unidentified children's or story button found years ago in Montgomery County, Maryland.  It is a brass 2 piece button with an iron back that measures 18mm in diameter.
It is a hard button to photograph for some reason, so I have included several shots under different lighting, etc. to help visualize the detail on the button. The bottom is a high resolution scan. This may be a very rare button, but my quest for an ID will continue.

I see an angel or cherub in a boat on a rocky sea. Is that a roman building in the back? It is interesting and now I'm curious if it may be somewhat religious....

I pretty much just took what you and KK1611 mentioned in previous comments on this button and merely typed in:
   Cherub in a boat button

Crazy ain't it..

With Gene's and Kingkid'd leads, I have been able to ID this button. It is listed in the Big Book of Buttons as No. 18  "CHERUB ROWING A BOAT with rays of the sun and a temple in the background,Stamped brass, with steel back and a wire shank." Circa 1890.. Thanks guys!  Mystery Solved!
