I purchased a "lot" of old button and was able to ID this button.  It seems to be Masonic or Knights Templar button.

It reads - "In Hoc Signo Vinces" - Latin for "In this sign you will conquer." And is the motto of the Knights Templar, top of the York Rite of the Masonic Order.

Waterbury Button Co. backmark - I think it is post civil war.

I have always thought the crown and the cross on those buttons were quite striking. That's a pretty button!
